Good news and bad news

Hey JoyRider readers, I have good news and bad news.  The bad is that due to a frickin crazy schedule, I wont be updating JoyRiders this September as planned.

The Good news is that I'm busy with THIS (look down below).  Doctor Atlantis volume 4 will be debuting at New York Comic Con this October and will be available online after that.

This will be 88 pages of high seas steampunk adventure that you don't want to miss.  I'm pasting a preview page down below so you can get a little peek at what's in store

Reposting: Noah Bradley's "Don't Go to Art School"

Went to a day of a comic con down at Mohegan Sun today and talked to a few fellow artists.  I've been mentioning this article to aspiring artists more than a few times, so maybe it's worth sharing here:

There's a lot of wonderful things about art school, but like the wonderful things about flying to Paris or living in New York, there's a major problem: IT'S EXPENSIVE, and for someone who wants a prosperous art career without a lot of debt and heartache, it may not be necessary.

Graphic Novel workshop: Waking Dreams

Whew! Just finished a very intensive and enlightening 5 day workshop on Graphic Novels with the amazing Paul Karasik (and his wonderful assistant Joyana McDiarmid.

I spent the time working on a story that I've been developing on and off for about 10 years now. The working title is "Waking Dreams." I don't want to give too much away in case you'd like to read it spoiler free when it's released, but here's some thumbnails as well as character and setting sketches (not shown: MOUNTAINS of scripts, writing, rewriting plot work, etc.)

The tentative plan is to finish the first chapter sometime in 2016 and get shopping it around to potential publishers.  I'll definitely be promoting like crazy when that day comes.

Lastly, big BIG thanks to all the other cartoonists that I worked alongside last week. Your insight and encouragement took me so much further than I ever did working solo.  Cant wait to read all of their amazing stories when they're finished!

spotlight artist: Jen Harris AKA BatCLAM

What's the point of having a blog if you can't share the works of other great creatives you know about, so here's a good one for all of you.

Jen Harris, AKA BatCLAM

A great freelance comic artist/illustrator that I've had the good fortune to work alongside.  She has a deviantart page as well as Patreon, but here's a choice sampling of some great works of hers:
